Alexander G. Schauss

Dr. Schauss is Director of Research and CEO at the scientific and regulatory consulting company, AIBMR Life Sciences, Inc., founded in 1978. At AIBMR, he has assisted several thousand companies in over thirty countries to achieve commercial success for a wide range of inventions and innovations related to food ingredients and finished products. A Research Associate at the BIO5 Institute and the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona, and for nearly a decade a Commercialization Partner with Tech Launch Arizona, he is a prolific scientist having authored over 20 books, 39 chapters, and 200 peer-reviewed papers.  Alex has served on National Institutes of Health (NIH) advisory committees, United States Pharmacopeia (UPS) expert panels, and numerous Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) expert panels. He is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (FACN), a Certified Food Scientist (CFS), noted for his studies as a psychologist on the effects of nutrition on behavior and cognitive function. He has been a long-time member and supporter of the Bioindustry Organization of Southern Arizona (BIOSA), in addition to serving as the Vice-Chair of the University of Arizona’s Gem and Mineral Museum Advisory Board, and Trustee of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.  Alex’s professional memberships include the American Chemical Society, American College of Nutrition, American College of Toxicology, American Society for Nutrition, Institute of Food Technologists, International Society of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, and Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine. He is a Certified USA Track and Field Official and a U.S. National Park Service ecology volunteer engaged year-round in identifying and preventing the spread of invasive grasses at Saguaro National Park.
