Asset Development Program

Funding, tools, and help to move the products of your research toward commercialization. Learn more about resources available to all UArizona innovators.

Asset Development or “AD” is a program that provides funding to help advance early-stage inventions that aren’t yet ready to attract licensees or investors.

When we work with you on an Asset Development plan, we validate an invention's market potential and requirements and ready it for commercialization – whether that be to an existing company or a startup.

Common Activities

  • Prototype development
  • Feasibility studies
  • Scalability tests
  • Regulatory assessments

  • The technology has been formally disclosed to TLA
  • The technology is not yet licensed
  • Primary inventor is a UArizona employee
  • If the technology is jointly owned, an agreement exists designating UArizona as the lead institution

It is important to note that asset development projects take place prior to licensing and are designed to prepare inventions and inventing teams for next steps.

How to apply
