Having registered a record-breaking 307 inventions for the year, Tech Launch Arizona looks ahead to continued growth and a strong commercialization pipeline for fiscal year 2025.

Tech Launch Arizona has incorporated the resources and programming previously managed by Arizona FORGE. The office – having launched over 140 startups – will now be the new hub for student entrepreneurs to get hands-on experience, mentorship, and more.

The Faculty Innovation Ambassadors Program is designed to improve access to information and assistance related to innovation, inventorship, and entrepreneurship, positioning an experienced Faculty Innovation Ambassador or “FIA” in key colleges across campus to help with and promote commercialization activity.

University of Arizona (UArizona) has launched a new web-based resource to connect high-tech entrepreneurs with promising inventions and startups. StartupHub matches the most promising inventions coming out of the university’s offices and laboratories with entrepreneurs outside the university who have the passion, talent, and experience to form startups to lead them forward.

At this year's World Intellectual Property Day celebration, Tech Launch Arizona honored over 70 innovators who had more than 100 patents issued for their innovations in the past fiscal year. Each inventor received a custom-minted challenge coin emblazoned with their patent information.

Forty-nine percent of college students aged 18-22 consumed alcohol within the past month. Developed at the University of Arizona by Spencer Gorin, a proven program called "The Buzz" offers an innovative and dynamic approach to alcohol education through its method and curriculum.

Two startups launched to commercialize UArizona inventions have been selected to participate in the exclusive Flinn Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program. Through the program, each will receive $30,000 in non-dilutive funding along with a one-year plan to help them advance their companies and technologies, and become investor-ready.

For Women's History month, Tech Launch Arizona looked to two leading innovators – Dr. Joyce Schroeder and Dr. Melissa Herbst-Kralovetz – to talk about what it takes to do exemplary research that leads to better tomorrows.

TLA graduated its first Catalyzing Change I-Corps Cohort for Social Innovation. The initiative is part of the broader Social Innovation program which aims to amplify the impact of university innovation in all its forms, enhancing community trust in pursuing impact pathways and fostering positive change.

Every year, leaders from Tech Launch Arizona and the College of Engineering gather to award medallions to the researchers and professors recently granted patents for inventions that better the human condition. Attendees at this year’s Feb. 28 event celebrated Engineering’s inventors for improving health care and accelerating computing, among other achievements.
