UA startup company GlycoSurf has finalized an exclusive license agreement for a novel method for chemically synthesizing environmentally-friendly biosurfactants. These non-toxic, sugar-based chemicals are used in cosmetics and personal care products, as well as in oil spill cleanups. With new CEO Chett Boxley in place, the company stands ready to enter the marketplace.

The University of Arizona has joined a number of top universities collaborating with Google/Motorola Mobility’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) group through a unique agreement.

“Hexocover,” developed by Moe Momayez, Ph.D., in the Department of Mining and Geological Engineering, consists of hexagonal panels that float on bodies of water like mining tailings ponds. The panels minimize water evaporation, and with added solar panels, simultaneously generate electricity.
