Two Programs To Assist UA Inventors

July 17, 2013

UA investigators with inventions that are beyond eligibility for basic lab/research support, but are not yet developed enough to attract outside funding, have two new options to move their IP closer to market. Tech Launch Arizona makes both the Proof of Concept and Commercial Feasibility Study funds available on a year round basis to qualified technology opportunities. In both cases, UA investigators should contact their License Technology Manager to determine appropriateness and initiate proposals.

New College Of Engineering Embed

The Office Of Technology Transfer is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Bob Sleeper. Sleeper started as the embedded Licensing Manager for the College of Engineering within the Office of Technology Transfer on June 24, 2013. The Office of Technology Transfer helps to accomplish the broader University of Arizona mission by providing a variety of services to faculty that both protects intellectual property whilst sharing important knowledge and discoveries with the world through technology commercialization.

UA & City Announce New Commercialization Network Alliance

July 8, 2013

The City of Tucson and the University of Arizona’s Tech Launch Arizona have formed a Commercialization Network Alliance to nurture technology based start-up companies in Tucson. A primary focus of the new Alliance is for the City and the University to collaborate on activities that identify, harness and include Tucson’s most entrepreneurial citizens in the development of start-up companies based upon technologies created by UA faculty and students.
