Researchers at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson have developed a new way to provide earlier diagnosis of lung disease. Working with TLA, the team has strategized and launched a startup, MetFora, and licensed the technology to advance toward making it available for doctors and patients.

The National Academy of Inventors has named four faculty researchers among its new class of Senior Members. NAI Senior Members are active faculty, scientists, and administrators from NAI Member Institutions who have demonstrated remarkable innovation in producing technologies that have brought, or aspire to bring, real impact on the welfare of society.  

UArizona startup uPetsia has been named as one of five winners of the 2022 annual prize competition. The company was launched with the help of TLA to develop and commercialize a harmless bacteria strain to battle bad dog breath and is now going through the UACI Oro Valley incubation program.  

Biomedical engineering professor and BIO5 Institute Director Jennifer Barton has spent nearly a decade developing a falloposcope to detect ovarian cancer in its early stages. As an initial step to creating impact for patients, she has filed 3 patents for technologies enabling the invention.

Three UArizona inventors have been selected as Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors. The NAI Fellows Program highlights academic inventors who have demonstrated a spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society.

Sahand Sabet, Ph.D., who was working towards his degree in engineering, has developed a new drone that can transition between flying through the air and rolling on the ground, giving it not only unmatched mobility in confined spaces, but also durability and efficiency. With his colleagues, they have launched a startup to bring the technology to the world.
