UA Startup Bubbles Up from Research to Patent to Market

UA startup company GlycoSurf has finalized an exclusive license agreement for a novel method for chemically synthesizing environmentally-friendly biosurfactants. These non-toxic, sugar-based chemicals are used in cosmetics and personal care products, as well as in oil spill cleanups. With new CEO Chett Boxley in place, the company stands ready to enter the marketplace.

UA Invention Offers Environmental Impact, Water Conservation and Solar Energy Generation

“Hexocover,” developed by Moe Momayez, Ph.D., in the Department of Mining and Geological Engineering, consists of hexagonal panels that float on bodies of water like mining tailings ponds. The panels minimize water evaporation, and with added solar panels, simultaneously generate electricity.

UA Innovation Hub Headed by Slepian to Accelerate Translational Medical Research

The University of Arizona has announced the creation of a center focused on accelerating the development and commercialization of translational biomedical technologies. At the Arizona Center for Accelerated Biomedical Innovation, ACABI, investigators can work with other experienced innovators to flesh out ideas, consider next steps in technology development, and access resources to move those ideas forward.
