The University of Arizona’s (U of A) Tech Launch Arizona (TLA) is seeking a self-motivated, outgoing individual to work as a Marketing Student Assistant. This position will work with the Business Development and Marketing teams.
TLA is the University of Arizona unit with the primary mission of ensuring greater cohesion among university researchers, the business community and organizations supporting technology commercialization to significantly enhance the impact of U of A research and creative endeavors. The primary role of Business Development is to maintain full marketing efforts with a focus on opening new channels for invention and startup licensing opportunities and generating and managing relationships. With a secondary role in Technology Marketing, working with TLA team members to define, articulate and develop marketing campaigns to license our portfolio of available technologies.
Working closely with the Business Development Analyst the Student Assistant’s primary responsibility is supporting invention marketing initiatives. This includes reviewing and editing content along with copy editing tasks. Tasks will also include drafting blogs and social media posts about inventions and inventors, among other topics and assisting with research and reports, and helping to staff events. The technologies cover a range of domains and cluster around the six major Intellectual Property (IP) generating colleges of the university: Optical Sciences; College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences; Engineering; Health Sciences; Eller IT/Informatics; and Science.
Position duties
- Assist with technology reports
- Assist with research
- Assist with content generation for blogs and social media platforms
- Assist with video/photo editing/shooting
- Assist in developing targeted marketing campaign materials for designated U of A inventions
- Help maintain marketing project records in TLA’s database system
- Assist in staffing internal and external events. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Helping with room set up
- Creating invitation lists
- Checking in guests
- Taking photographs and video
- Additional duties may be assigned
Minimum requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects
- Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
- Ability to independently manage, track and execute several tasks and projects simultaneously
- Ability to execute work with thoroughness and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Requirements
- Student with a background in marketing/communications or equivalent (Applicable educational experience can be applied)
