Tech Launch Arizona, the office of the University of Arizona that commercializes inventions stemming from UA research and innovation, is seeking a student copywriter and marketer with social media experience to help produce written, photographic and video content for its communications platforms. Along with writing news stories and promotional content and shooting and editing videos for the TLA website, this person will manage the X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts for @UAZTechLaunch, as well as help produce content for the organization’s monthly newsletter.
The Student Marketing Specialist is an integral member of the marketing team, the mission of which is to advance the brand image of the unit and maximize engagement of the U of A and surrounding business, technology and entrepreneurial ecosystem communities in its commercialization activities.
Position duties
- Create, curate and edit copy and imagery content for the Tech Launch Arizona website.
- Create, curate and edit a monthly newsletter including copy and imagery.
- Create and edit original posts, including copy, designed graphics and videos, for social media accounts
- Schedule and manage posts in Trellis Social Sprout, the U of A social media management platform.
- Assist in using analytics to develop and constantly improve evolving social media strategies.
- Identify and strategize opportunities to collaborate and partner with internal U of A and external entities to extend the reach of TLA social media content.
- Create and edit TLA-branded graphics and/or videos for posting across networks, optimizing content for graphics sizes, video lengths and file sizes for each platform.
- Monitor Social Sprout, the TLA, U of A and the innovation/entrepreneurial ecosystems to identify posts to amplify and/or act upon.
- Monitor incoming comments, mentions and inquiries, and work with the Marketing Team on engaging with such audiences.
- Help staff TLA events.
- Other digital marketing duties as needed.
15 – 20 hours/week depending on scheduling and student’s availability. Some daily (M-F) availability is preferred to best keep up with social media.
Minimum requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Self-motivated
- Detail-oriented, ability to take the initiative to solve problems
- Professional with good organizational and time management skills
- Good “people skills,” for working with a range of TLA staff team members, U of A faculty, graduate student and staff colleagues.
- Experience and familiarity with the nuances of posting on multiple social media networks: including X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Excellent writing skills.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience shooting and editing photography and video.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Rush, Premiere, Express) or other image and image and video editing software.
