Student Office Assistant - Intellectual Property Team

Tech Launch Arizona is seeking a motivated student employee to support the TLA Intellectual Property Team as a part-time office assistant. Clerical tasks will include data entry and projects that align with TLA’s strategic IP operations and compliance of Intellectual Property. The student must have good communication skills and organization, work well with repetitive tasks under pressure and in a group setting, and be able to stay on task.

Note: Tech Launch Arizona is located off-campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve and update patent records using TLA software (Minuet/Inteum software and enter, update pertinent information FFL UDF/Publication/insert LINK for publication and patent records, using PDF copies of USPTO mail items forwarded from attorney email). Retrieve information from Minuet files to assist with Assignment Audits.

  • Assist with data entry of engagement log entries and tracking information to law firms.

  • Update patent record activities with patent docket meeting notes, and shorthand email notes provided by patent team for approx. 750 activities monthly (may need to open activities repeatedly).

  • Update contact information for inventors/attorneys/law firms, etc.

  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets for CPI data.

  • Assist TLA Patent team in developing and documenting new standard operating procedures (SOPs), and reviewing existing SOPs and improving them as necessary.

  • Operates standard office equipment to assist with scanning, copying, and filing documents. Assist with filing and archival preparation of patent documents.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Ability to work 10-15 hours per week during the academic year

  • Ability to execute work with thoroughness and attention to detail

  • Organized and efficient

  • Microsoft Office experience including Word, Excel, Adobe PDF
