Barry Glick
An experienced and successful technology entrepreneur, executive and Internet mapping pioneer, Barry has been at the forefront of emerging digital technologies that have changed the way people and companies use maps, navigate, search for places, analyze data, and efficiently plan and execute the movement of goods and people. Barry co-founded and led as President and CEO the start-up Spatial Data Sciences Inc which, following an acquisition, spinout, name change, and venture capital raise launched mapquest.com, the pioneering on-demand driving directions and maps service, in 1996. MapQuest IPO’ed in 1999 and was acquired by AOL/Time Warner for approximately $1B in 2000.
Following his departure from Mapquest, Barry served as VP at NAVTEQ Inc (acquired by Nokia for $8B in 2008). Barry also served as CEO of a pioneering multinational mobile navigation and location-based services company, based in France, and was CEO of ALK Technologies Inc, a market leader in data and software for logistics, freight, and supply chain management, acquired by Trimble Inc in 2013. More recently Barry served as President of PTV America Inc, the global leader in modeling and simulation software for transportation, mobility and logistics acquired in 2017 by Porsche SE. Today, Barry operates an advisory and investment company, Carillon Ventures LLC, and holds board and advisory roles for a dozen innovative technology companies. He has been awarded six patents and an honorary doctorate from the State University of NY and currently divides his time between Arizona and Vermont.
