The University of Arizona has joined a number of top universities collaborating with Google/Motorola Mobility’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) group through a unique agreement.

“Hexocover,” developed by Moe Momayez, Ph.D., in the Department of Mining and Geological Engineering, consists of hexagonal panels that float on bodies of water like mining tailings ponds. The panels minimize water evaporation, and with added solar panels, simultaneously generate electricity.

The University of Arizona has announced the creation of a center focused on accelerating the development and commercialization of translational biomedical technologies.
