Drawing from a diverse background spanning business development, strategic partnerships, investments, operations, marketing, and new venture management, Derick has a solid track record of kindling innovation and nurturing entrepreneurial spirit. Before his current role at TLA, he served as the Executive Director of Virginia Tech's Apex Center for Entrepreneurs for 9 years, a position where he connected tech companies and startups with resources and networks to succeed. Derick's mentorship has helped numerous startups, guiding founders through their trials and fueling their drives to reach their next milestones.

Derick is a seasoned entrepreneur, with a successful history of founding and exiting businesses such as Legacy Home Healthcare, Mangia Technologies, and Prescott Indoor Soccer. He holds a Bachelor's degree in political science and business management, as well as a Master's degree in industrial systems engineering.

In his current role as Venture Partner at Transform Capital, Derick cultivates and oversees technology partnerships, helping companies grow and succeed. He prioritizes nurturing innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and propelling sustained growth in the dynamic world of startups and technology.
