Barry J. Glick


An experienced and successful tech entrepreneur/executive and internet mapping pioneer, Barry Glick has been at the forefront of emerging digital technologies that have changed the way people and companies use maps, navigate, search for places, analyze data, and efficiently plan their activities. In 1996, the company Barry founded and led as CEO launched, the revolutionary website providing on-demand driving directions and maps which became a top-10 most visited destination and iconic Internet brand. Mapquest IPO’ed in 1999 and was acquired by AOL/Time Warner for approximately $1B in 2000.

Since that time, Barry has served as VP at NAVTEQ Inc, the leading supplier of digital maps worldwide, sold to Nokia for $8B in 2008. Barry then became CEO of ALK Technologies Inc the market leader in mapping data and software for logistics, freight and supply chain management, which he sold to Trimble Inc (NASD:TRMB) in 2013. Most recently Barry served as President of PTV America Inc, the global leader in software for transportation, mobility and logistics analytics acquired in 2017 by Porsche SE, majority shareholders in Volkswagen AG. Today, he operates his own advisory and investment company, Carillon Ventures LLC, and has investments, board and advisory roles in a dozen innovative technology companies. He also heads up a non-profit company, Spatial Justice Resources Inc.

Barry has participated in numerous conferences related to innovation, start-ups, entrepreneurship, location-based services, digital mapping, transportation & logistics, emerging technologies and geographic information/data sciences. He has also served on National Academy of Sciences panels on big data, mapping, privacy and data security. Barry earned a Masters in Policy Planning & Analysis from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Geography (GIS) from The State University of New York at Buffalo, as well as an Executive Management certificate from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and an Honorary Doctorate from the State University of New York. Barry and his wife live in Tucson, Arizona, and Warren, Vermont, and have two sons, two daughters-in-law and one grandson.
