Wheelhouse Arizona

Welcome to Wheelhouse™ Arizona — the one-stop shop for University of Arizona commercialization assessment and development. From assessment to start-up, Wheelhouse provides direction and resources and is committed to the UA and related communities.

From architecture to baseball to railways to oceans, the wheelhouse has a common role. It is what enables direction. It is where massive drive power is harnessed and put on course to the desired destination.

With Tech Launch Arizona, the University of Arizona has assembled human drive to move discoveries and inventions to the market. TLA brings the University's internal innovators together with external experts to realize the full potential of UA discoveries.

TLA's Wheelhouse Arizona is where the greatest of assets – people and ideas – are leveraged to understand, shape, and advance promising technologies to defined commercial pathways.

The Wheelhouse Arizona role is two-fold:

  • First, we illuminate and advance the commercial relevance of individual UA technologies. We do this though the deep and significant domain-specific expertise of our comprehensive network, and through technology-specific programs and tools such as the Proof of Concept and Commercial Feasibility Study Programs. These programs and people help TLA and UA’s inventing faculty to identify, understand, and validate the most promising commercial aspects of their technologies.
  • Second, we collaborate in the development of strong, sustainable new ventures to commercialize appropriate UA technologies. Some technologies that receive Wheelhouse services may go on to license to existing companies. For those that are better suited for a start-up company, Wheelhouse is the home of the UA’s new venture team.

Wheelhouse is also connected directly to its TLA partners: Tech TransferCorporate Relations, and Research Parks. This relationship model enables collaboration and the sharing of a multitude of resources.
