What: Idea to Asset Seminar: Successful Commercializing of University Innovation Via Technology Start-Ups in Physics and Optics
When: April 29, 12:00 - 2:00 PM
Where: Meinel Optical Sciences, Room 821
This session will provide an update as to patent strategies targeted to address protection and commercialization of university innovation in physics and optics fields. We will have Steven Barone and Curtis Vock from the law firm of Lathrope & Gage LLP who will be discussing the importance of crafting a patent application to give it the best commercial value.
Steven and Curtis will provide insights and practical examples drawing on experience for developing IP portfolios to achieve successful commercialization via technology start-ups. The discussion will include the following specific example technologies.
- Printable and stretchable electronics technology from University of Illinois. A fabrication and device-level platform broadly applicable to diverse electronics and optical fields including photovoltaics, LEDs and biosensing technologies currently in development by start-up partners, Semprius, Inc. and MC10 Inc.
- Extended Depth of Focus from University of Colorado, now inside camera phones built by Omnivision.
Food and beverages will be available. We can accommodate the first 50 participants that sign up, so reserve your spot today.
